Debbie and Larry’s journey with Meck’s Cat House began in 2013, sparked by the arrival of a special kitty who found his way into their hearts. This charming cat appeared one day, drawn to Larry, who was recovering from surgery. Larry decided to name this cat, Kitty, thinking it was a female. It was only after a visit to the vet that they learned the truth—Kitty was a charming boy! He would come joyfully to them when called. His gentle meows during their conversations quickly wove him into the fabric of their lives. Soon after, Shade joined their family, quickly becoming another cherished family member.
As more cats started to appear, Debbie and Larry felt a profound sense of responsibility to give back to these vulnerable souls who had been forgotten and abandoned. Tragically, Shade passed away in the Fall of 2025, followed by Kitty in January of 2026, leaving behind a profound void; these two beloved cats were the heart of their small rescue and are missed immensely.
What started as a noble effort has since flourished, leading to Meck’s Cat House being recognized as a 501(c)(3) public charity in 2023. Despite their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts, they understand that their mission is far from over. With deep compassion, they are committed to educating others about the critical importance of Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) to help alleviate the suffering of countless cats in need.
